Senegalese President Macky Sall has publicly announced that he will not run for a third term.
He said he could not urge the Constitution to extend the term, nor give citizens the opportunity to voluntarily elect the leader of their choice.
He made the announcement on national TV.
There have been rumors that the 61-year-old is plotting to stir up trouble against the Constitution, but he has denied them.
