Uganda police has appealed to the leadership of the national Unity Platform to ensure their mobilization activities, are held in very safe and secure settings.
Police said it will help the party and its delegates to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully, while upholding the rule of law. It also furthers our commitment to protecting the public, amidst the existing threats.
Police added that they continue to guarantee security and safety of NUP leaders during town hall meetings, with restricted number of participants, who can be checked and secured by the police.
“We absolutely understand the concern of NUP supporters about these processions, but as the Joint Security Agencies, we are more concerned by terror threats, which would risk the safety of the NUP leader and his supporters. We are aware several NUP bloggers and propagandists are likely to release propaganda, in response to the police appeal and instruction.” SCP Fred Enanga said.
